Does your brain speed up when you are scared?

In this experiment [1], researchers prepared a large digital wristwatch that flickered between two random numbers so fast that to the naked eye, it looked like a blur. Volunteers in the first experiment wore these wristwatches while riding the scariest rollercoaster in the area, to see if being scared would lead to them to be able to read the digital display. Unfortunately, the first experiment failed, because the volunteers were not scared enough. Some even found it fun.

A second experiment was set up. Using the same digital wristwatches, the volunteers this time climbed into a 33-foot-high metal cage on top of a tower in Houston, and fell backward the entire 150 feet to the bottom of the building.

Did the volunteers feel that time slowed down due to being scared?
